Some filmmakers say that half of picture is sound.

Well, a third of Psycho-Sonic Cinema is sonic.

When we create music, what better era of music-making to study than classic Rock & Roll? Our influences start with great songwriters. Word-smith’s like Paul McCartney; poets and visualizers like Joni Mitchell, and story-tellers like Jim Morrison. Traditional recording techniques are always considered and emulated in the recording booth. Compositional geniuses such as Elton John and Brian May continue to inspire us. Even in a track that branches the furthest from rock, you can’t shake the foundation of strong music; no matter the genre. And finally in post-production, we do our best to enhance the music, but we prefer a minimal amount of digital manipulation. If it doesn’t sound good in the raw recording—well, that has yet to happen to us.

But enough talk. You have some music to listen to…

Film Scoring

“Deus Ex Musica” was written with the music in mind. The score and visuals were created simultaneously, so that both parts carry equal weight.

Piano makes the foundation of this score (because you can’t go wrong with a piano score).

An improvised jam session with Josh Luna on electric bass and drums, and Malichi Greenlee on a genuine Hammond organ—recorded in stereo through a Leslie cabinet. Engineered by Mike Hissong with the classic SSL 5000, this recording is as legit as it gets.

Perhaps the simplest of music samples on this page, the original score for “All of The Above” may be the boldest.
